Hello students, welcome to Kwickprep. You type one line, and a computer writes a poem or draws a picture. Is it really creating, or is it guessing? Today we will learn the types of generative AI and how to try it safely. We will also see where it is used, and its benefits and limits.

First, let us compare two kinds of AI. Discriminative AI looks at data and sorts it or predicts a label, like deciding whether an email is spam. Generative AI creates new content, such as text, images, music or video, that did not exist before.

How does it work, in simple words? A generative model is trained on a huge amount of examples, like books, web pages, photos and songs. From these examples it learns patterns, but it does not truly understand meaning the way we do. A prompt is the instruction you give it, such as write a four line poem on monsoon. It then predicts the most likely next word, or the next part of an image, again and again, until the answer is complete.

Generative AI comes in four main types. Text generators write essays, answers, emails and even program code, for example ChatGPT and Gemini. Image generators turn a text prompt into a picture, like DALL-E and Adobe Firefly. Audio generators create a human-like voice or a piece of music, like ElevenLabs and Suno. Video generators create short video clips from a prompt, like Sora and Veo.

Before we try a tool, let us learn four safety rules. Use only a tool that your school or teacher has approved for the class. Check the age rule, because many tools allow only users aged thirteen or above, or need a parent's permission. Never type personal details like your full name, phone number, address or your photos. Always check facts from your textbook or teacher, because the tool can be wrong.

Here is a simple classroom activity, done with your teacher. First, open the tool your teacher has approved. Next, type a clear prompt, such as explain the water cycle for a Class 9 student in five points. Then read the answer carefully. Now ask, are the facts correct when you compare with your textbook? If yes, use it and mention that AI helped you. If no, improve your prompt with more detail and try again.

The quality of the answer depends on your prompt. Tell about Diwali is vague, but explain Diwali in five simple lines gives a focused answer. Draw a cat is weak, while a cartoon cat under a blue sky tells the tool the style and background. Make a poem is unclear, but a four line poem about the monsoon sets the length and the topic.

Pause the video and think. You ask a chatbot, who won the cricket match played this morning? But the model only learnt from data up to last year, and it has no search feature turned on. What will it do, and can you trust its answer? It may make up a confident but wrong answer, so always check recent facts from a reliable news source.

Generative AI is now used across many industries. In education, teachers create quizzes and students get explanations in simple words. In healthcare, it drafts medical notes and helps researchers design new medicines, but doctors check everything. In business, it writes emails and runs customer support chatbots. In media, it helps make posters and dubbing into Indian languages. In software, programmers use it to write and fix code faster.

Now let us look at the benefits. It saves time by writing first drafts and doing routine work quickly. It supports creativity by suggesting new ideas, stories and designs. It can translate content into many Indian languages, so more people can learn in their mother tongue. It is available at any time, like a patient helper who explains again and again.

Now the limitations, which are just as important. Hallucination means the model gives a confident answer that is simply false, like a made-up fact or a fake book name. It can repeat bias found in its training data, for example showing only men when asked to draw a doctor. Deepfakes are fake photos, voices or videos of real people, which can spread lies or cheat people. There are also doubts about copyright of the content it learnt from, and what you type may be stored.

So how should a student use generative AI honestly? Use it to understand a topic, but do your homework and exams in your own words. Be open and tell your teacher when AI helped you with a project. Never create fake pictures, voices or videos of real people, because it can hurt them and may break the law.

Finally, what does the future look like? Multimodal models will read text, look at images, listen and speak, all in one tool. AI agents will plan a task and complete several steps, like booking a train ticket after you approve it. We will see more tools that work well in Indian languages, including efforts supported by the government's IndiaAI Mission. Governments are also making stronger rules, such as labels that clearly mark AI-made content.

Let us recap today's lesson. Generative AI has four main types: text, image, audio and video. Try it safely with an approved tool, share no personal data, and always check the facts. It is used in education, healthcare, business, media and software. It brings speed and creativity, but also hallucinations, bias and deepfakes, so a human must always stay in charge.
