What is the GSEB Class 10 Computer Science syllabus?

GSEB Class 10 Computer Science is organised into 3 units. The full unit list, the topics inside each one and the exam pattern are below, taken from the syllabus we teach to.

What each unit covers

Unit 1: Web Development with HTML

  • Introduction to HTML, elements, tags and attributes
  • Head and Body sections, metadata, title and page structure
  • Handling Images in HTML, inserting images, dimensions and alt text
  • List and Table Handling, ordered/unordered lists and tables

Unit 2: Spreadsheets with LibreOffice Calc

  • Introduction to Calc, worksheets, cells, rows and columns
  • Data Editing and Formatting in Calc, entering, editing and formatting data
  • Functions in Calc, formulas and built-in functions
  • Charts in Calc, creating and customising charts for data visualisation

Unit 3: Programming Fundamentals & C Language

  • Problem and Problem Solving, algorithms and flowcharts
  • Introduction to C Language, structure and syntax of a C program
  • Data Types, Operators and Expressions in C
  • Using I/O Operations, input and output in C
  • Decision Structures, if-else and switch-case
  • Loop Control Structures, for, while and do-while loops
  • Arrays, single and multi-dimensional arrays
  • Functions, defining, declaring and calling functions

Exam pattern

100 marks total, 80 marks theory (3-hour written paper, typically ~30% objective/MCQ and ~70% subjective) and 20 marks practical/internal assessment. Minimum passing is 33 marks. Subject to the latest GSEB SSC blueprint for the academic year.

Practical and project work

20-mark practical/internal-assessment component with lab work: writing HTML pages (e.g. timetables, menus and tables), building and formatting Calc spreadsheets with functions and charts, and coding small C programs demonstrating I/O, decisions, loops, arrays and functions.
