CBSE Class 12 Information Technology chapter-wise weightage
The 60 theory marks in CBSE Class 12 Information Technology are split across 5 units, and they are not split evenly. Unit 3, Unit 3: Fundamentals of Java Programming, alone carries 20 marks, which is 33% of the paper. Studying every unit for the same number of hours is the most common way students lose easy marks.

Total 100 marks: Theory 60 marks (external) + Practical 40 marks. Theory paper is split into Part A Employability Skills (10 marks) and Part B Subject Specific Skills (50 marks: RDBMS 15, Web Based Applications 10, Java 20, Work Integrated Learning 5). Practical 40 marks: Java Program (10), SQL Queries - table creation plus 5 queries (10), Practical File (10), Viva Voce (5), and Project made in Java NetBeans (5).
