The full lesson, in text

Hello students, welcome to Kwickprep. You have one title slide, but your project needs ten. How do you add, copy, move and delete slides quickly? Today we will learn to create slides in LibreOffice Impress, step by step.

We will build a small project on saving water. The topic is Save Water. Slide one is the title slide with your name. Slides two to four explain the causes, the effects and the solutions. Slide five says thank you.

Every new presentation starts with a title slide. Click the box that says Click to add Title, and type Save Water. Then click the subtitle box and type your name and class. Click outside the box to finish.

Now add the second slide. There are three ways, and each adds the slide after the one you are on. Open the Slide menu and choose New Slide. Or press Ctrl+M on the keyboard. Or right click in the slides pane on the left, and choose New Slide.

A new slide usually has a title and content layout, but you can change it. A layout is the arrangement of boxes on a slide. Open the sidebar, go to Properties, and find Layouts. Click Title, Content for a slide with points. The slide now has a title box and a text box.

Click the text box and type your points. Each point is shown with a bullet, which is a small dot in front of it. Press Enter to start the next point. Press Tab to make a sub point that moves one level in. Press Shift+Tab to move it back out.

Now manage your slides. To duplicate means to make an exact copy, and it is under the Slide menu or by right click. To delete, select the slide in the pane and press the Delete key, or use the Slide menu. To rename a slide, choose Rename Slide, which helps in long shows. To move a slide, drag it in the slides pane, or use Slide Sorter view.

Pause and predict. You are on slide two of five. You press Ctrl+M. Where does the new slide appear? It appears right after slide two, and becomes the new slide three.

Impress lets you keep speaker notes, which are reminders only for you. Open the View menu and choose Notes. Type what you want to say in the box below the slide. The audience never sees these notes during the show.

What if you want your school logo on every slide? Use the master slide, which is a pattern slide that controls the design of all slides. Open the View menu, then Master Slide. Add the logo or footer once, and every slide shows it. Close the master view to return to normal editing.

Always check the show before class. Press F5 to start from the first slide. Press Shift+F5 to start from the slide you are on. Use the arrow keys or a mouse click to move forward, and Escape to stop.

Let us revise what we learned today. Add a new slide from the Slide menu, with Ctrl+M, or with a right click. Choose a layout from the sidebar. Press Enter for a new point and Tab for a sub point. You can duplicate, delete, rename and move slides. The master slide sets the design for every slide. Now build your own five slide project on any topic.
