Exam pattern

Two externally examined papers, 50% each. Paper 1, Principles of Computer Science (1CP2/01): written, 1 hour 30 minutes, 75 marks, assessing Topics 1 to 5 in five compulsory questions. Paper 2, Application of Computational Thinking (1CP2/02): onscreen, 2 hours, 75 marks, assessing Topic 6 in six compulsory questions.

Practical / onscreen

Paper 2 is a practical assessment. Students design, write, test and refine programs onscreen in the IDE of their choice and answer in Python 3, working from supplied coding files and a printed question paper. Programming is practised every week, not revised from notes.

Who it's for

Students sitting the Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Computer Science examination, in the UK or at a British-curriculum school abroad, including students in the Gulf who need lessons in their own time zone.

Why study Computer Science?

Edexcel GCSE Computer Science (1CP2) splits equally into Paper 1 (Computer Systems theory) and Paper 2 (Algorithms, Programming and Logic), each worth 50% of the grade, so both conceptual understanding and hands-on coding carry real weight in the final result. GCSE is where students lock in the binary, networking, algorithm and Python 3 fundamentals that A Level Computer Science and university courses build directly on, making it a high-leverage year. Because the marks are split across knowledge, application and problem-solving (AO1, AO2 and AO3), it is also a genuinely scoring subject for students who practise to the mark scheme. Strong, real understanding now means far less catching up later, and an A*-C here keeps progression to AS & A Level Computer Science wide open.

Edexcel GCSE Computer Science is the recognised foundation for AS & A Level Computer Science and for university degrees in computing, engineering and data fields. The Python programming, algorithmic thinking and computer-systems knowledge built here map directly to careers in software development, cybersecurity, data and AI, and IT. Universities also value an early demonstrated grounding in computing when assessing technical applicants.

The Kwickprep Method

Computer subjects are not learnt by memorising code. Since 2006, Kajal Ma'am has taught Edexcel GCSE Computer Science (CS) with one simple loop that turns logic into marks:

01

Concept in plain words

Every topic starts from why it exists and what problem it solves, before any code.

02

Worked through live with you

Kajal Ma'am writes and runs it on a shared screen, so you see it work, not just read it.

03

Board-pattern practice

You solve the exact question types that repeat in your board's paper, section by section.

04

Doubts till it clicks

Ask anything, any time in the live class. Nothing moves on until the concept is clear.

05

Exam & practical drill

Full papers, the practical file, the project and viva, rehearsed until you walk in confident.

{ }

Where this takes you

This is not just a subject to clear, it is a skill that carries forward:

  • Programming to the Edexcel standard computational thinking done properly.
  • Algorithms & problem-solving the heart of computer science.
  • A globally recognised foundation respected by universities worldwide.

It is strong preparation for A-Levels, the IB and university computer science anywhere in the world. We teach for the board first, and for the thinking that lasts after it.

Course FAQs

Is Edexcel GCSE Computer Science the same as Cambridge IGCSE 0478?+
No. They are different boards and different qualifications. Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science is 0478; this is Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Computer Science, specification code 1CP2. The topics overlap a great deal, but the papers, the command words and the mark schemes are different, so this course is taught to the Edexcel specification rather than adapted from another board's.
Which programming language is used?+
Python 3. Paper 2 is an onscreen practical assessment and students answer in Python 3, in the integrated development environment of their choice. Kwickprep has taught Python since 2006, so the language itself is familiar ground.
How is the qualification assessed?+
Two externally examined papers, 50% each. Paper 1, Principles of Computer Science (1CP2/01), is a written examination of 1 hour 30 minutes worth 75 marks, covering Topics 1 to 5. Paper 2, Application of Computational Thinking (1CP2/02), is a 2 hour onscreen examination worth 75 marks, covering Topic 6.
Is this a group batch or one-to-one?+
One-to-one only. Edexcel GCSE is taught individually so the pace, the timetable and the paper practice can be built around the one student and their school's scheme of work.
Do you teach students outside India?+
Yes. Classes are live and scheduled in the student's own time zone. Kwickprep already teaches students across the Gulf, the UK, the US and elsewhere, one-to-one.
What does the course cost?+
โ‚น1,800 per hour, including GST. Classes are one-to-one, so you pay for the hours actually taught and the total depends on how many hours the student needs and how much of the specification is left to cover. The demo class is free, and billing starts only after it. Message +91 97255 25791 on WhatsApp for a written schedule before you pay anything.
Can we see a class before deciding?+
Yes. The free demo is a real class with Kajal Ma'am, not a sales call. There is no payment and no obligation, and you only enrol if the student likes the teaching.
