Why does Java skip my name?

Short answer. The leftover new line from Enter is read by nextLine() as an empty string.

What is the one line fix?

Call sc.nextLine() once after nextInt().

Remember

nextInt() leaves the new line
Add one extra nextLine()

You type your age, and Java skips your name. Why? Next int leaves the Enter key's new line behind. Next line reads it as empty. So call next line once to throw it away. Remember. Next int leaves the new line. Add one extra next line.
