Why did the original list change?
Short answer. alias = team did not copy it. Both names share one list.
How do you make a real copy?
Use team.copy() or a full slice team[:].
Remember
| = shares the same list |
| copy() makes a new list |
| team[:] also copies |
You changed the copy. The original changed too. Why? Alias equals team gives the same list a second name. Changing alias changes team. Copy makes a new list. Equals shares the same list. Copy makes a new list. A full slice also copies.
