What does extends do?
Short answer. It makes a child class that receives the parent's fields and methods.
When should you use inheritance?
Only when the child is a kind of the parent, like a Dog is an Animal.

Why rewrite code that a parent class already has? Student extends Person. Student is empty, yet it gets the hi method. Student is the child, Person the parent. Extends gives parent code to the child. The child is a kind of parent.
